Registrar\Financial Aid Officer

George Wythe College is seeking to fill the position of Registrar\Financial Aid Officer. This is a full time position whose duties will differ significantly from those carried out by past GWC Registrars. The college expects to have an entirely automated, on-line system to handle admissions, registration, tuition payment, etc. up and running by January 2009. The Registrar, whose duties in the past have consisted of creating and processing significant amounts of manual paperwork on a student-by-student basis will be changed to one of overseeing the Registrar-related elements of this new on-line system. Moreover, with the college’s anticipated accreditation status – also expected in early 2009 – new sources of financial aid will become available to our students. The Registrar’s Office will be responsible for the processes related to this workflow.

The responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Ensure the accuracy and security of all student academic records
  • Oversee the enrollment and registration systems and processes for all degree programs
  • Oversee the accuracy and timely availability of class rolls, grades, and transcripts
  • Responsible for financial systems associated with all Registrar functions
  • Coordinate with faculty on semesterly course offerings
  • Provide enrollment, registration data to administration and faculty as needed
  • Ensure compliance with financial, legal and governmental audit requirements
  • Manage George Wythe College Financial Aid and Scholarship programs
  • Seek new financial aid opportunities for students who are planning on attending the college
  • Help prospective and returning students with financial plans for attending the college
  • Oversee back-end Financial Aid systems

The ideal candidate will be able to meet the following minimum standards:

  • Significant educational and\or professional background in office administration and customer relations and support
  • Strong leadership and consensus building skills
  • Systems and detail-oriented mindset
  • Polished presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent delegation and follow-up skills
  • A good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications (Word, Excel, QuickBooks, etc.)
  • Experience with Business Objects Crystal Reports v11.0 a major plus
  • A “Raving Fans” mentality
  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized and able to work well with faculty and staff
  • An intrapreneurial mindset, taking ownership of your department to find new and innovative ways to make the office run more effectively.
  • An in-depth understanding of Thomas Jefferson Education and the completion of coursework in a George Wythe College on- or off-campus degree program.
